English's of Brighton is one of the oldest and most well known restaurants in the country with a rich and fascinating history and is located at the entrance to the world famous ‘Lanes' in the oldest part of Brighton .
The restaurant spans what were originally 3 fisherman's cottages which date back over 400 years. Seafood has been served on this site for over 150 years. English's has been owned by the Leigh-Jones family since 1945.
Guests have included Charlie Chaplin, Dame Judy Dench, Tony Blair, Charlton Heston, Lawrence Olivier and Vivien Leigh and more recently, Richard E Grant, Timothy West, Julie Walters, Sir Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Ewan McGregor, Jeremy Irons, Franz Ferdinand, Tony Blair, Jack Dee, Paul Merton, Hayley Mills, Twiggy and Joan Collins.
